The cost of living in the Netherlands is \u20ac2,100 for a single person and \u20ac5,300 for a family of four. These figures include accommodation, shopping, transport costs and the cost of mobile and internet packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By way of comparison, using the same indicators, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foyerglobalhealth.com\/destination\/the-cost-of-living-in-france\/\">cost of living in France<\/a> is \u20ac1,630. This means that living in the Netherlands is around 25% more expensive than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foyerglobalhealth.com\/destination\/living-in-france-as-an-expat-our-tips-for-a-successful-move\/\">living in France<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-accommodation-in-the-netherlands\">Accommodation in the Netherlands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Rent accounts for 30% of the monthly budget for<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foyerglobalhealth.com\/destination\/moving-to-the-netherlands-all-you-need-to-know-to-plan-your-relocation\/\"> living in the Netherlands<\/a>; in France, this amount is reduced by a third. Here&#8217;s a comparison of prices in the two countries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-renting-in-the-netherlands\">Renting in the Netherlands<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On average, in the Netherlands renting a one-bedroom flat in the city centre costs between \u20ac1,000 and \u20ac2,060 per month, compared with \u20ac500 and \u20ac1,300 in France.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the outskirts, Dutch rents range from \u20ac780 to \u20ac1,800, compared with \u20ac400 and \u20ac1,000 in France<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-buying-real-estate-in-the-netherlands\">Buying real-estate in the Netherlands<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The average price per m2 in the Netherlands is between \u20ac3,900 and \u20ac10,000 in the city centre and between \u20ac3,000 and \u20ac7,000 outside.  The average range is therefore \u20ac4,300 to \u20ac5,800\/m2, compared with \u20ac4,000 to \u20ac5,900\/m2 in France. The difference in purchase prices between the Netherlands and France is therefore fairly small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, house prices vary considerably from one Dutch city to another. You can take out various types of insurance, including private international insurance, which is ideal for expatriates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-education-in-the-netherlands\">Education in the Netherlands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dutch education system is one of the best in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to send your child to a public school, the annual fees for an international primary school range from \u20ac4,600 to \u20ac18,000. There is a wide choice of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ischooladvisor.com\/view\/the-british-school-of-amsterdam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">English-speaking schools in the Netherlands<\/a>. From walks in the tulip fields to the entertainment on Amsterdam&#8217;s Place Leidseplein, there&#8217;s no shortage of leisure activities. However, the monthly salary in Amsterdam is among the highest in the Netherlands; around \u20ac3,500 on average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cost of living in Rotterdam:<\/strong> To live in Rotterdam, expect to spend an average of \u20ac2,200 per month, including rent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cost of living in The Hague:<\/strong> In The Hague, the cost of living for one person is around \u20ac2,000, also including rent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-cost-of-living-in-the-netherlands-compared-with-neighbouring-countries\">The cost of living in the Netherlands compared with neighbouring countries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, living in the Netherlands requires a larger budget than in neighbouring countries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-compared-with-germany\">Compared with Germany<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost of living in the Netherlands is <strong>13% higher<\/strong> than in Germany. While the monthly budget for one person is \u20ac2,100 in the Netherlands, it is estimated at \u20ac1,700 in Germany.
